Katie Cat

Today was a sad day. This morning we took our beloved cat, Katie, to the vet to be put to sleep. She was very old, and had been having more and more problems. Mom and I decided that we just couldn’t handle a sick pet right now, and that it would be for the best if we had Katie put down. With five other cats we would not have been able to give her the undivided attention she would have needed, and deserved. I only have one picture of her taken with my digital camera, and it doesn’t really do her justice.
And since I can't get the picture to load,I will show you later...

Katie came into our family when I was in the 5th grade. Some family friends had found her out in the country and brought her home, only to discover that they were all extremely allergic to her. So, they asked if we would take her in. Since my mom finds it hard to say no to a cat without a home, Katie came to stay.
While she wasn’t a really affectionate cat, she did like to sleep on my bed, and lay on the couch when we were watching television. When I was pregnant she would come and lay on my big belly, until the baby started to kick!
When Eden was very small, Katie would come in whenever she cried. She would look at me like “What are you doing? That is not how it’s done!” When Eden was in pre-school, Katie would come in in the mornings, and I would say “Wake the Baby, Katie” and she would walk over to Eden and meow until she woke up. Katie was a very talkative cat. You could hold the phone up to her, and tell her to say hello, and she would meow. Whenever we had company, she would wonder over and look at them and meow, just to say hello, then she would wonder off to sleep where it was quiet.
We always said Katie was our crotchety old lady, because she only wanted to be pet on her terms. When she had had enough, she would nip your hand and stalk off. I will miss her very much, but I know that she is better now. Okay, I think that’s enough sad stuff for one day… Peace, Steph

I'm so sorry to hear about Katie, and I know it's not very much comfort to know that she's not suffering anymore, but it sounds like she had a long, happy, crochety life, and that's all any of us can really hope for. I'll give Jet and Louie some extra snuggles for y'all tonight. Take care!
